Literature research

Literature research for me is basically activelly searching for any sort of information or finding it accidentally. It is usually received from books, newspaper articles, internet pages, video essays or interviews, magazines and so on.

You can go down the rabbit whole finding lots of information, but remember to keep it and structure is - don't trust your memory. Read a lot of things and create a better idea of what you want.

Search for things connected to your topic even if they are not so close to it. Try different terms if you don't get results.

Be more specific on what are you searching for when you get further into the research.

Use only trustworthy sources and you can create your opinion based on the information you collected.

When you need to collect specific information.

When you need ideas and inspiration.

When you just want to discover new things.

There is something about finding new information that just makes you feel good. This is one of my go to methods when I start a project and I need insights on different topics although I don't use specific search engines and I am kind of naive when it comes to sources.

Like most people nowadays I don't often go to the library for research, but I search throughout internet and mainly watch YouTube commentaries, essays and random facts.

With this kind of research you can find tresures, or you can discover nothing. There is this huge cloud of information about everything so sometimes you are overwhelmed with it and don't know where to start, but other times you search for a specific thing and you can find it, especially if it is not well known or viral.

Books of course are better when it comes to that because everything is more structured - maybe the hard thing is to find the right book.

Reflection

As I said I usually start a project with some literature research. I always watch tons of videos on the subject and try to get better and improve my knowledge. Like this analysis for example.












However sometimes I have problems finding the information I need like small artists and their work, because simply there is not so much information about them and I usually use the most basic search terms.

If I need to find a background artist I would just type that, btu I learned that you need to think out of the boz and try different terms and search engines or the research database from school.
